  Air Conditioning System Components

The "Heart" of Every System: Trane's Climatuff® Compressor

The compressor has to be pumping strong for your air conditioner or heat pump to keep your home comfortable. It's the single most important component in your air conditioner.
A quality compressor helps ensure a more reliable, longer lasting and higher efficiency unit. It is designed and manufactured to
match the requirements of the model it's used in. That's why we say it's the "heart" of the system.

More than 30 years of continuous refinements have gone into Trane's innovative compressor design. From its heavy epoxy-sealed motor coils and Trane-designed valve system, Climatuff® compressors are built to stand up to your comfort demands for years to come.

The Leading Edge: Trane's Patented Spine Fin™ Coil

Trane's Spine Fin™ coil has been unbeatable for efficiency and reliability. Spine Fin™ is the most efficient single row outdoor coil that can be built. In fact, it's so reliable and durable that the Spine Fin™ coil enabled us to offer the industry's first manufacturer's 10-year limited warranty on outdoor heat transfer surfaces in our XL products.

What makes Spine Fin™ so efficient and dependable? Our innovative design and manufacturing along with expert engineering and several decades of experience, research, and testing.

    A System of Parts

Indoor Coil (1) The indoor cooling coil (a.k.a. the evaporator coil) should precisely match the outdoor unit in efficiency and capacity. When you buy a Trane system, make sure the indoor coil is also by Trane.

Gas Furnace (2) Trane furnaces deliver maximum heat with minimum fuel usage. And they think for themselves. Key control functions are integrated into a microelectronic system that monitors the gas valve and thermostat for precise temperature control.

Add a Trane Electronic Air Cleaner (3) to your cooling and heating system for a remarkable improvement in your home's cleanliness and indoor air quality. It takes out dust particles that
would otherwise settle on furniture and drapes. And it removes smoke, pollen and even some bacteria that are so small they aren't even visible, except under a microscope. The unit uses less energy than a 40-watt bulb.

High Efficiency Air Conditioner
(4) While noted for reliability and long life, Trane air conditioners have other notable points in their favor too. Technological advancements have made them some of the most energy-efficient on the market. And they're so quiet, you might not even know when it's running.

Ductwork (5) It can make more difference in your system than you may think. Before a new system is installed the ductwork should be checked for leaks. Properly sealed ducts can lower operating costs and can even influence the size of the system you need.

Air Handler Trane air handlers are available with single or variable speed blower motors. The variable speed models offer 12 selectable levels of air flow capacity and sophisticated humidity control features.

Programmable Thermostats A Trane programmable thermostat is something of an achievement in itself. Simple to use, it lets you program in different temperatures for up to four periods per day -- for example, turning down the heat after everyone leaves for the day and turning it back up before you get home. And, like you, it keeps a different schedule on weekends!
